Blog Updates

Just a note of thanks for all that have emailed me the last few days. I am sorry to report I had a passing in my family and as expected, it was an huge shock. I had to leave LA to handle things and am not sure when I will be getting back to the blog. I will try and keep you updated on my status and promise to get back to my regular daily blogging as soon as I can.

Thursday Night Update

OHL
The Belleville Bulls beat the Kitchener Rangers tonight by a score of 4-1. Bryan Cameron had an assist and was +1 in the game. The Bulls lost the first three games but have won the last 2 and are on a roll. The Rangers now lead the final series is now 3-2. Game #6 is Saturday night in Belleville.

Wednesday Night Wrap-up

World Championships
Team Slovakia fell to Team Finland tonight by a score of 3-2. Lubomir Visnovsky was held scoreless tonight but had 1 shot and was +1 in the game. He also played a whopping 25+ minutes, tops for both teams. With the loss, the Slovaks fell to 1-2, last in Group C. Visnovsky and the Slovaks meet Anze Kopitar and the Slovenians Friday afternoon in a relegation game.

WHL
The Lethbridge Hurricanes fell to the Spokane Chiefs tonight by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Hurricanes were swept out of the WHL final series 4-0. The Chiefs are the 2008 winner of the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Dwight King was held scoreless and was –1 on the night. Hats off to King who had a great season this year. He still has a year of junior eligibility remaining and should be back in Lethbridge next year.

QMJHL
The Gatineau Olympiques beat the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies tonight by a score of 4-1. Joey Ryan was held scoreless tonight but was +1 with 1 hit and 2 penalty minutes. Gatineau now leads the final series 3-1. The Olympiqes have a chance to finish the Huskies off Friday night in Rouyn-Noranda.

Tuesday Night Wrap-up

World Championships
Team USA fell to Team Canada this afternoon by a score of 5-4. It was tied in the 3rd but a late goal by Canada cost USA the game. Patrick O'Sullivan had a goal and an assist on 3 shots and was +1 on the game. Dustin Brown had a goal and an assist on 4 shots and a 2-minute roughing penalty at the end of the game. Team USA will return to action on Thursday night against a team to be determined. This will be the first game of the qualification round.

Team Slovenia lost to Team Latvia tonight by a score of 3-0. Anze Kopitar was held scoreless in the game and had a 2-minute hooking penalty. Slovenia did not get a win in the tournament and was last in Group B. Slovenia will now be part of the relegation phase of the tournament to see if they get the boot from the top tier of the tournament.

WHL
The Lethbridge Hurricanes fell to the Spokane Chiefs tonight by a score of 2-1 in overtime. Dwight King scored the only Hurricane goal tonight and was +1 in the game. Spokane now has a commanding 3-0 final series lead. Game #4 will be Wednesday night in Lethbridge.

QMJHL
The Gatineau Olympiques crushed the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies tonight 10-4. Joey Ryan was held scoreless tonight but was +2 in the game. Gatineau now hold a 2-1 lead in the final series. Game #4 will be Wednesday night in Gatineau.

OHL
The Belleville Bulls got the win they needed tonight, beating the Kitchener Rangers 5-4 in overtime. Bryan Cameron was held scoreless and was –1 in the game. He also had a 2-minute tripping penalty in the third period, but Kitchener could not capitalize. Kitchener still has a heavy 3-1 final series lead. Game #5 will be Thursday night in Kitchener.

Monday Night Wrap-up

ECHL
The Reading Royals lost game #7 tonight to the Cincinnati Cyclones by a score of 6-1. The Royals put up a valiant fight this series but it came to a crashing end. Danny Taylor was peppered with 49 shots but could only save 43 of them. Patrik Hersley was held scoreless on 2 shots but was –1 in the game. Dany Roussin had an assist on 3 shots and was +2. Vladimir Dravecky and Ned Lukacevic were again healthy scratches tonight. The Royals season ends on a sour note but they had a great season. Thanks guys for all or your hard work! Enjoy the off-season!

World Championships

Team Slovakia fell to Team Germany tonight by a score of 4-2. Lubomir Visnovsky had 2 assists on 4 shots and was even in the +/- department. He played just over 20 minutes which was tops for Team Slovakia. Slovakia is now 1-1 in Group B action. Their final preliminary match is Wednesday night against Finland.

Sunday Night Wrap-up

World Championships
The United States thumped on Slovenia tonight by a score of 5-1. Anze Kopitar scored Slovenia’s lone goal on 3 shots and was +1 in the game. Dustin Brown had an assist on 1 shot and was even in the plus/minus department. Patrick O’Sullivan also had an assist on 1 shot and was even. Team USA is now tied for the lead in Group B with Team Canada at 2-0. These two teams will face off against each other Tuesday afternoon to determine the Group B winner. Slovenia is now tied for last in Group B with Latvia. These two teams will also face off on Tuesday night.


OHL

Saturday Night Wrap-up

World Championships
Team Slovakia beat Team Norway tonight by a score of 5-1. Lubomir Visnovsky had 2 assists in the game, including one on the game winner. He also had one shot-on-goal and was +3 in the game. Visnovsky played over 19 minutes which was tops for anyone on Team Slovakia. The Slovaks next game will be Monday night against Germany.

Team Sweden beat Team Belarus tonight by a score of 5-3. Erik Ersberg is Sweden’s third goalie and was not in the line-up. Sweden’s next game will be Monday night against France.

ECHL
The Reading Royals almost completed the comeback tonight, but still fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-2. The Cyclones had mounted a 3-0 lead but with less than 3 minutes to go, the Royals scored 2 goals in less than a minute but the that was it. Patrik Hersley continues to have a great playoff run, scoring a power play goal on 3 shots but was –2 in the game. Dany Roussin had an assist on 3 shots but was –2 in the game. He also had a 2-minute “holding the stick” penalty but the Cyclones could not capitalize. Danny Taylor stopped 27 of 30 shots in the loss. Ned Lukacevic and Vladimir Dravecky continue to ride the pine. The whole season comes down to one game, Monday night in Cincinnati.

QMJHL
The Gatineau Olympiques fell to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies tonight by a score of 6-2. Joey Ryan had an assist on 1 shot and was –1 in the game. He also had 2 penalty minutes and dished out 1 hit. The final series is now tied at a game-a-piece. Game #3 will be Tuesday night in Gatineau.

WHL
The Lethbridge Hurricanes lost tonight to the Spokane Chiefs by a score of 4-1. Dwight King was held scoreless and was –1 on the night. The Chiefs held the home ice advantage but now the Hurricanes come home for 3 straight games. The Canes’ are now down 2-0 in the final series with game #3 will be Tuesday night.
