Kevin Provencher of the Union leader has a great update today on the Manchester goaltender situation and Brian Boyle's injury status.
Erik Ersberg will be trying out for Sweden's national team. This is the reason he did not go to Manchester for the AHL playoffs. I think the international play will be better for Erik's development and I hope he gets a shot on the team.
Provencher mentioned that Jonathan Bernier would be the starter for Manchester with Jon Quick being the backup. Great news for fans that are anxious to see Bernier continue his development! He also mentioned the Monarchs may sign a 3rd goaltender for emergency reasons. This may lend credence to the Jeff Zatkoff rumors I mentioned this morning.
Brian Boyle suffers from a hyper extended knee and is week to week. He will most likely not need surgery which means Boyle fans can breath a little easier. Average healing time for something like this is 2-4 weeks. Hopefully Brian can get into the later rounds of the playoffs!
Gabe Gauthier has been out since mid-March with a leg injury. He is not skating yet but hopes to be back sometime during the first round series. we wish Gabe the best in his recovery!
