Monday Night Wrap-up

OHL
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds beat the Guelph Storm tonight by a score of 2-1. Wayne Simmonds was held scoreless but was +1 on the night. Should I start tracking Drew Doughty? He had an assist on the game winner and was the #2 star of the game. OK! I wont count my chickens before they hatch. The Soo now lead the quarterfinal series 2-1 with game #4 being held tomorrow night in Guelph.

Elitserien
The quest for “Let Mat” neared closer to its end as the finals of the Elitserien playoffs began today. Linköpings HC took an early advantage by beating HV71 in game #1 by a score of 6-4. Johan Fransson was held scoreless and was –1 in the game. Game #2 will be held Wednesday morning in Jönköping, Sweden.

DEL

The Berlin Polar Bears beat the DEG Metro Stars in overtime this morning 4-3. Constantin Braun was held scoreless but had 1 shot and was –1 in the game. Berlin now has a 2-1 lead in the semifinal series. Game #4 will be tomorrow morning in Berlin. The semifinal series is a best-of-5 series so the Polar Bears can clinch a spot in the final with the win. Former King goalie Jamie Storr faced 51 shots in the loss!

Thanks for all the great work.
Actually it would be great if you could do a separate 2008 draft subsection and post updates on the top rated players, specifically the top 4 defensemen, one of which will most likely be a Kings pick.

Thanks for the note... that would be a great idea! The one problem is only 2 of the top 4 defenseman (assuming you are talking Doughty, Pietrangelo, Schenn, and Bogosian) are still playing in the playoffs. The only 2 with teams still alive are Pietrangelo who is out with mono and Doughty who is about to be eliminated.

I will check out which of the top 30 are still playing and keep my eye on them.

Thanks again for the note! Feedback is very much loved here!
