Wednesday Night Wrap-up

AHL
The Manchester Monarchs fell to the Providence Bruins tonight by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Jonathan Bernier stopped 34 of 37 shots in the loss. The Monarchs need to cut down these chances if they want to beat the high-powered Bruin offense. Matt Moulson was the games #3 star, scoring the game-tying goal on the power play. He also had 4 shots and was –3 in the game. Petr Kanko scored his first goal since February and was +1. John Zeiler had an assist in the game and a 2-minute penalty for tripping. Teddy Purcell, David Meckler and David Drewiskie all had assists but they were all on the negative of the plus/minus department. Game #2 of the first round series will be Friday night in Providence.

OHL
The Belleville Bulls beat the Oshawa Generals tonight 3-2. Bryan Cameron was held scoreless and had a 2-minute penalty for hooking. It didn’t hurt Belleville too bad as they scored a short hander 11 seconds after the penalty. The Bulls now lead the semifinal series 1-0. Game #2 will be held Friday Night in Oshawa.

The Soo Greyhounds fell to the Kitchener Rangers tonight by a score of 3-1. Wayne Simmonds was held pointless in the game and was a –2. The Rangers took the first game of the semifinal series with game #2 being held Thursday night in Kitchener.

Elitserien
